Hi, I’m Aidan.

I am an industrial designer and process innovator. I love what I do. I like to work across the interfaces of art, function, and engineering; I get my hands dirty and consider physical and digital prototyping central to my process and one of my strengths. I’ll hand or machine tool, 3D print, laser cut to test concepts and start discussions. I think about materials, manufacturing, and packaging. I really enjoy user-centered design.

My love for product design and process innovation stems from the intersection of problem solving, creativity, and helping others—I use my skills to develop simple, highly intuitive, empathetic, thoughtfully designed solutions, that enable enjoyable and effective user experiences, and help improve quality of life.

I completed my degree in the Industrial Design Program at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. I was drawn to Carleton because the program sits in the School of Engineering and that disciplinary focus, to me, makes a difference in the approach to the work and a material impact on the solution. For the past 3 years, I have been a product designer at GelSight, a tactile metrology startup. During my time there, I had opportunities to create and optimize manufacturing processes, conduct usability testing and wear testing, design various packaging solutions, and develop relationships with contract manufacturers. I'm currently seeking a position in early 2023 where I can continue to grow as a designer.
