After two summers working as an R&D intern in all different parts of the wafer manufacturing process, in my third summer I was given a project to map the current manufacturing process and indicate areas for improvement. This involved learning system design fundamentals, process mapping methodologies, and methods of portraying the information straightforwardly.
Color code: Allows for quick indication of problem areas for further development.
Full company manufacturing process organized in swim lanes based on their respective stage in the process.
The color of the lane indicates whether the lane itself is value-add respective to the end customer.
The stakeholder is shifted from being the end customer. New process map organization: each lane is the supplier to the lane to its right. Provides categorization of discreet specific processes instead of overarching stages of manufacturing.
